R.G. Anderson Company, Inc. received the Merit Award in the Renovation under $5 Million category for the work done restoring and moving the Elliston Place Soda Shop a few doors down to an historic building in Midtown.
The soda shop a Nashville staple since 1939 found itself under the threat of closure before Nashville developer, Tony Giarratana and his wife, Lisa, stepped in in 2019 and purchased the business. After an extensive 5-month renovation of a new space, material and re-opening delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and much more, the restaurant re-opened its doors to customers. Southern meat and three classics, milkshakes, and all the nostalgia of the original restaurant came with the renovated space.
“The Excellence in Construction Award winners demonstrate a commitment to innovation, quality, and safety, and we are proud of our honorees’ dedication to producing exceptional projects,” said ABC Greater Tennessee Chapter President Clay Crownover. “As Nashville continues to grow, we couldn't be more proud of our members integrity and work ethic toward ensuring a bigger and better Nashville.”
